“Kean" (1953 premiere), adapted by Sartre, has already been translated in Japanese, but this is the first translation of the original Dumas version.
Dumas was completed in the early 19th century, when Frédérick Lemaître, an actor of French Romanticism at the time, wanted to perform Kean himself on the death of British legend actor in 1833.
Kean who is a friend of the Prince of Wales and loves Elena, the Danish Ambassador’s wife. Kean, who played Romeo and Juliet on the stage, recognized Elena and Prince on the county’s pier, and overwhelmed the unscrupulous aristocrat Lord Mewil who was aiming for forced marriage with Anna, an aspiring actress for property Faints above.
