This is the first volume of the Japanese translation of “Le Corricolo" (Naples), the last volume of the Italian travel trilogy of the great French writer Alexandre Dumas, such as “Three mousquetaires", “Comte de Monte Cristo" and “Henri III and his court”.
“Le Corricolo" is the sequel to “Speronale" (Sicily) and “Captain Arena" (Aeolian Islands and Calabria) in chronological order, and concludes “The impression of the journey" to the third largest city of Europe after London and Paris at that time. This book is the largest volume of the trilogy with 48 chapters.
The title refers to the car used by Dumas and his painter friend Jadin, just as the Speronale was a ship. It’s a fragile little car that is pulled by a retired ghost horse and carries fifteen parasitic passengers.
